Njúton - Indigenous Music

Njúton gives a second concert on the 8th of June in Fríkirkjan in Reykjavík at 8 pm, which is dedicated to the memory of composer Stephen Lucky Mosko. He first visited Iceland in the early seventies, was very interested in the musical heritage of Iceland and studied it extensively. As a faculty member of CalArts for many years he influenced numbers of students with his works and teaching, including Icelandic composers Hilmar Thórdarson and Kolbeinn Einarsson. The program of this concert consists of his large scale chamber work Indigenous Music II, from 1984. Also: Sononymus for piano - carved in stone by Hilmar Thórdarson, 18 V (premiere) for flute and piano by Kolbeinn Einarsson and Fluff and Drama by Atli Heimir Sveinsson, which was originally composed for the California EAR Unit
